3-4th March 2002 Guangzhou Vice Mayor's visit to Bristol.

The partnership were pleased to host a visit by the vice mayor of Guangzhou to the City of Bristol over two days during March. The visit involved meetings with representatives from the City Council, Bristol City Football Club, Bristol University and the City Museum and Art Gallery. The vice mayor also enjoyed a brief visit to Aztec West business park and a tour of the industrial areas of north Bristol.

The Vice Mayor's Delegation picture was taken outside the Council House and includes Kam Wong and Mr Robert Endicott, Officer of Bristol Environmental Health department.

The meeting was arranged at the request of the vice mayor who expressed an interest in the problems of air pollution.

Vice-Mayor Su Ze-Qun and his party visited Bristol City Museum & Art Gallery and its collection of Eastern Art which is designated by the government as being of national importance. The Vice-Mayor expressed a particular interest in Chinese calligraphy and painting. Kate Newnham, Curator of Eastern Art and Culture showed him a handscroll by the artist Zhang Cheng-kuei dated 1661.

They would like to use the Sister City link between our two cities in the long-term for exchanges between the clubs.
